This photograph depicts the colonial morphology displayed by Gram-negative, Burkholderia pseudomallei bacteria, which were grown on a medium of chocolate agar, for a 72 hour time period, at a temperature of 37°C. B. pseudomallei bacteria are the cause for the infectious disease melioidosis. For a closer view of these bacterial colonies see PHIL 12277 and 12278.
