Captured in Brazil, this image from 1965 depicted a right anterior-oblique view of a Sao Paulo, Brazilian man’s face, highlighting the severely destructive cutaneous pathologic changes that had manifested as a result of the mycotic infection, paracoccidioidomycosis. Also known as Brazilian blastomycosis, this disease is caused by the fungus, Paracoccidioides brasiliensis.
