This historic 1963 photograph depicted Dr. Schulbind, as he was performing a streptolysin determination study, by measuring sample levels of oxyhemoglobin. At the time of this photograph, what is now known as Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), was until 1970, then known as the Communicable Disease Center. Where appropriate, modern day protocols now call for the laboratorian executing such tasks, to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety goggles, gloves, and a facemask.
