Magnified 1125X, this thin film blood smear photomicrograph, revealed the presence of two, Plasmodium vivax schizonts, an immature form on the left, and a mature form on the right. Merozoites are undergoing development in these two infected erythrocytes, and they are almost ready to be liberated from the mature schizont.
