Magnified 1125X, this thick film blood smear photomicrograph, revealed the presence of a darkly-granulated eosinophil, a type of white blood cell (WBC), also known as a granulocyte, due to its intracytoplasmic granules. In this case, one can see a strong resemblance to a Plasmodium vivax schizont.
