Caption:
Under a magnification of 680X, this photomicrograph of a periodic acid–Schiff (PAS)-stained chicken brain tissue sample, revealed some of the histopathologic details due to what was determined to be a case of dactylariosis, also known as a phaeohyphomycosis. Note the presence of numerous, delicate, purple-stained hyphal elements, produced by the unidentified fungal organism.
