Description:This 1971 image depicted a Sabourauds dextrose agar slant culture, which had cultivated a colony of Chlorella sp. algal organisms.
The genus Chlorella is composed of members of single-celled microalgae containing high amounts of both chlorophyll-a, and chlorophyll-b, and is therefore, very photosynthetically efficient. Note the rich green coloration of this chlorophyll-rich colony.
