Caption:
This 1971 image depicted a Sabouraud’s dextrose agar (SDA) slant culture, which had cultivated a colony of Chlorella sp. algal organisms. The genus Chlorella, is composed of members of single-celled microalgae, containing high amounts of both chlorophyll-a, and chlorophyll-b, and is therefore, very photosynthetically efficient. Note the very green coloration of this chlorophyll-rich colony.
