This 1975 composite image, compares the morphologic details exhibited by forms M and C of the Orf virus, forms M and C of the milker’s nodule virus, and forms M and C of the molluscum contagiosum virus. All three of these viruses are members of the family, Poxviridae, which also contains the genus Orthopoxviridae, i.e., vaccinia, smallpox, and cowpox. All contain a genomic core of DNA.
