Description:This micrograph depicts Gram-positive C. difficile bacteria from a stool sample obtained using a .1µm filter.

Those infected can spread the disease to others, but only hospitalized people, or those on antibiotics are likely to become ill. People in good health usually don’t become ill with diarrhea, and more serious intestinal conditions such as colitis.
